Hepatitis E is a not a fatal disease, less than 2% of infected individuals die from this virus. Their deaths are caused by failure of the liver. There are currently no vaccinations available to prevent Hepatitis E.To prevent infection from Hepatitis E you should never drink water from an unknown source, this also includes using ice from unfamiliar places. It is very important to wash your hands as well. Hands should be washed after using the restroom, changing diapers, and before preparing or handling any food item. Washing hands before and after these activities is a critical prevention technique in the spread of many diseases.
